I work 300 feet from 101, where ALL the rich people cars are northbound to Monterey. Usually the LA exodus starts in earnest on Thursday morning, but it’s begun early.
I can hear them, accelerating hard into the freeway after getting gas (apparently this is as far as most insane supercars and classics go from LA), and I’m sitting here like
One of these years, I’m just going to post up next to the freeway (or Highway 1, which is closed this year at Big Sur due to fire) with a cooler and an umbrella and watch. Oh, and an immaculate B25 just took off from McChesney Field in that direction, no more than maybe 1000' overhead, radials shaking the shop. Dammit, I need to get up there but it’s painfully expensive.

Um... Many. Many years ;) Unfortunately it’s always weekdays, so I do try to spend as much time on road tests up and down 101 as is practical. The car spotting is ridiculous.

That’s some sort of yearly routine here as well, you just have to wait for the first weekend of the year with good weather and all classic owners get ‘m out in the same weekend ;-)

I was planning on driving up this weekend and staying with friends, but I spent too much $ repairing my car to afford the stay. Oh well. There is always next year I guess. Though the cars being unveiled hnnnnggggg
